About this piece
A brass box with a hinged lid and clipped-corner rectangular body. An arched twig-form handle rests on leaf-shaped mounts, with matching branch-pattern borders around the lid and base. The base retains a “MADE IN INDIA” label and a handwritten marking that appears to read “57”; “32” is incised inside the lid near the hinge. Surfaces show scratches, spotting and uneven discoloration, with extensive flaking and loss of the gold-colored finish underneath.
