About this piece
Hand-decorated Macau porcelain bowl — peonies and butterflies on celadon green. Porcelain bowl enameled in the Famille Rose: big peonies in pink, coral, and blue, blue butterflies, and leafy branches over a pale celadon-green crackled ground, inside and out, with a ruyi-head border at the rim. Base bears its original labels: "China Porcelain Ware — Hand Decorated in Macau" and "For decorative purposes only, not for food use. Made in Macau," plus an old Tennessee shop label. Condition: Very good. No cracks noted, two paint chips shown in white in picture on the inside of the bowl on the bottom. Enamel bright with the soft mottling this ware is known for. Decorative use only, per its label. Measures 10" diameter x 5" tall. A true centerpiece — empty on a table, filled with orchids or orbs, or up on a stand. Chinoiserie and grandmillennial rooms were made for it. Carefully packed and shipped with tracking.
