About this piece
A shallow round majolica plate with overlapping relief foliage, including a large lobed leaf picked out in yellow and burgundy against a turquoise-green veined ground. Glossy glazes pool around the molded veins and textured leaves, with a gently undulating rim framing the decoration. The green-glazed reverse has a low circular foot ring and retains Pembroke Antiques and Chudley International labels. Handwriting describes it as a caladium leaf plate; the exact factory pattern, maker and date remain unconfirmed, and no readable factory mark is visible. Glaze crazing and small areas of surface glaze loss are visible, including an exposed ceramic spot on the reverse near the rim. Small firing-support scars are also present underneath.
