About this piece
A painted ceramic parrot perched on a naturalistic tree stump, with folded wings, a prominent hooked beak and a long tail curling forward around the base. Raised and incised feather details carry muted green and reddish-pink decoration over a cream ground, with brown bark detailing and a matte surface. The ceramic appears to be unglazed bisque; the exact body is unconfirmed. The underside has a small round vent hole and a handwritten paper label reading “Bisque” and “PARROT,” but no readable maker’s mark is visible. Decoration has a rubbed appearance with cream highlights, and the underside shows surface soiling. Maker and date remain unconfirmed. Height: 7 inches Depth: 4 inches
