About this piece
A Satsuma-style ceramic vase with an ovoid body, narrow neck, scalloped flared mouth and paired pierced scroll handles. The tall pedestal foot carries patterned cartouches that echo the decoration above. Japanese costumed figures appear among pink and blue flowers and green foliage, with burgundy bands, blue floral areas, raised white enamel and gilt accents over a cream crackle glaze. Chips are visible at the mouth and foot rim, with wear to the gilding. Two red hand-painted marks appear inside the recessed underside but cannot be confidently read. Maker, date and country of manufacture remain unconfirmed; no supplied page establishes a match in form, marks and decoration.
