About this piece
A polychrome glazed ceramic parrot with yellow-and-black plumage, a blue face and mauve-pink feather accents. The crested, long-tailed bird holds a small fruit or nut in its raised claw and perches on a flowering tree stump with green leaves, blue-and-yellow blossoms and three pink-accented scroll feet. Modeled feather relief and applied floral details give the glossy surface texture. The underside bears “The British National Trust Collection by Chelsea House Port Royal” and Italian origin marks, with green felt pads beneath the feet.
