About this piece
A shallow famille verte porcelain charger with eight stylized butterflies, their dark teal and lime-green wings alternating around a pink flower on a turquoise medallion. White scrolling reserves and fine gold-colored outlines define the radial design, finished with a gilt-edged rim. The glossy polychrome enamel decoration appears hand-painted. The pale celadon-green exterior rests on an integral circular foot ring with an unglazed contact rim and a white recessed base. A blue six-character seal-style mark appears to read 大清乾隆年製, a Qianlong reign-style inscription. This reading is tentative and does not establish the charger's age or maker.
