About this piece
An elongated silverplate shell bowl by F. B. Rogers, with radiating curved ribs, stippled recesses and a scalloped scroll rim. A raised shell-and-scroll handle and ornamental feet complete the relief-decorated form. The underside is marked “F. B. ROGERS SILVERPLATE” and retains a Japan label identifying a tarnish-resistant finish. The label directs cleaning with a soft damp cloth and specifies no silver polish. The underlying base-metal alloy is unidentified. Surface scratches and scattered dark spotting are visible, particularly on the exterior and underside. Length: 8.5 Width: 5 Height: 2.5
