About this piece
An Italian glazed earthenware vase with a tall, gently swelling body, circular mouth and flared round foot. An oversized applied pink rose, yellow bud and turquoise-green veined leaves stand against a cream ground, with hand-painted green foliage and pink rosebuds completing the decoration. The layered ceramic decoration and glossy finish give the vase a barbotine/majolica-style character. The underside is marked ITALY and retains a heavily damaged foil label whose text is not reliably legible; the maker and date remain unidentified. Numerous chips to the applied petals, bud and leaves expose the ceramic body. The foot ring shows substantial wear, with additional small losses along the base edge. Diameter: 2 Height: 8
