About this piece
Ivory-white glazed ceramic soup tureen modeled as a cauliflower nestled within overlapping cabbage leaves. The rounded oval bowl has deeply veined botanical relief and a scalloped rim, beneath a domed floret-textured lid with a sculptural floret-and-leaf handle. The removable lid has a ladle notch, and the matching ceramic ladle pairs a stalk-like handle with a veined leaf-shaped scoop. The bowl has a smooth glazed interior and recessed lid seat. Dark scuff lines are visible along portions of the rim. No underside maker’s mark is shown; maker and date remain unconfirmed. Length: 12 Width: 10 Height: 8.5
